Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), Ahmedabad, India orders their second train in 2 years!
Following the success of their 1st train supplied by Severn-Lamb in 2008, AMC have ordered their 2nd train for operation at Kankaria Lake.
Kankaria Lake lies on the south eastern side of the Ahmedabad. It is a multisided lake that was built by Sultan Qutab-ud-Din in the year 1451 A.D. It is one of the most favourite picnic spots for the people of Ahmedabad.
The first train, a Lincoln locomotive and 4 coaches is called the Kankaria Queen and has proved to be very popular with visitors and locals alike.
The 2nd train, also a Lincoln with a further 4 coaches will be called the Swarnim Jayanti Express and is due for delivery in September 2010
